There
currently exists a gap for welders who are required to perform the role of a
supervisor but do not have or need to be certified to either AS 1796
Certificate 10 or AS 2214. The outcomes of this course meet the Australian
metal fabrication industry requirement of having suitably qualified and
experienced personnel performing the role of welding supervisor. The course
needed to be available to personnel in regional and remote localities and
include online or distance learning.
This
qualification allows the participant to supervise Welding of Structural Steelwork
to AS/NZS 1554.1 with the proviso that this is an acceptable qualification to
the Principle in accordance with AS/NZS 1554.1 Section 4.12.1 Items (e), (f) or
(h).
The course is completed by:
Completing the on-line learning modules and examinations;
Completing the distance learning material (assignments); and
Sitting the examination.
You
must be connected to the internet to access the online content of this course.
It supports the most recent versions of Google Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and
Internet Explorer. Courses can be viewed on desktops, laptops, tablets, and
mobile phones.
Note: However, that a high-speed
internet connection (i.e. NBN) and large screen offer a better user experience.
Entry Requirements
Participants should have a minimum of three years’ experience in the fabrication of welded structure and shall comply with one or more of the following:
1. Have served an apprenticeship in an appropriate metal trade; and during or subsequent thereto, has had five years’ experience in the fabrication of welded steel structures;
2. Have at least seven years’ experience in the fabrication of welded steel structures;
3. Hold postgraduate certificate, diploma or degree in welding engineering from a recognised university or an approved technical college;
4. Hold a diploma or a certificate in engineering or metallurgy from an approved technical college or is a graduate in engineering or metallurgy of a recognised university
(this price does not include examinations for AS1796 Certificate 10 or AS2214 structural supervisor)
