Online - IIW International Welding Engineer (IWE)

For personnel who take on the duties of professional welding engineer within the welding coordination team. This course provides you with a detailed understanding of welding technology to enable you to apply your knowledge as an International Welding Engineer (IWE).


  • Comprehensively manage and/or perform, supervise, oversee all company welding and welding-related activities
  • Have overall responsibility for coordination of all welding and welding-related activities
  • Be authorised to sign on behalf of the organisation in all welding quality related matters or delegate such signing
  • Verifying that the organisation has complied with all relevant quality considerations in production of the product.

The IWE is a blended learning course with the Theoretical Sessions online over 5 x 5-7 week blocks and a 1 week practical session face to face at Wollongong TAFE, NSW. 

This course will include a mix of pre-recorded material, live online lectures, and other learning resources. The combined learning resources will cover all the topics outlined in the schedule.

Prerequisites

To be able to gain an IWE Candidates must hold one of the following;

a)     Bachelor Degree in Engineering (or related discipline) above AQF 7; or

b)     Chartered Professional Engineer with Engineers Australia or IPENZ; or

c)      Equivalent overseas qualifications or recognition (contact Weld Australia for more Information).

Exams are not conducted as part of the course but are required to be booked separately.
