Online - IIW International Welding Specialist (IWS)

The IWS course is a globally recognised International Institute of Welding (IIW) qualification. You will gain comprehensive knowledge in the following topics; 


  • Welding processes and equipment 
  • Materials and their behaviour during welding
  • Construction and design
  • Fabrication, application engineering.

As an International Welding Specialist, you may perform, supervise, and oversee all company welding activities. You will likely have overall responsibility for the quality of these welding activities, such as ensuring the correct material and weld procedure is used for each job. 

You may also be authorised to verify that your company has complied with all relevant quality considerations (including adherence to International and Australian Standards) in the production of welded products and materials.


The IWS is an online course run over 5 x 5 week blocks. This course will include a mix of pre-recorded material, live online lectures, and other learning resources. The combined learning resources will cover all the topics outlined in the schedule. 

The IWS course will commence the on 4th of February. All lectures will be on a Tuesday and Wednesday at 9:30am. See dates below.

Prerequisites

Participants will need to provide evidence that they can meet the following entry conditions:

Training Pathway 1 (TP1)

The candidate must have a minimum of two years’ job-related experience and hold one of the following.

a) Certificate III – Engineering Fabrication (MEM30305, MEM30319), OR         

b) An engineering qualification above a. (e.g. degree or diploma in Engineering).

Training Pathway 2 (TP2)

Candidates who hold an AS1796 Certificate 10 and/or AS2214 Welding Supervisor can apply for exemption from completing the training for the first two modules, by completing the MF-25 Exemption Form.  Once approved they then attend the training from Module two, part two, but sit all the examinations, SA1, SA2, SA3 and S4.

Exams are not conducted as part of the course but are required to be booked separately.
