IIW International Welding Inspector Basic (IWI-B)

The IWI-B course is a globally recognised International Institute of Welding (IIW) qualification. This course provides general knowledge of welding, inspection theory and application, including: 


  • Non destructive testing
  • Mechanical and visual inspection techniques, 
  • Inspection procedures and acceptance criteria, 
  • Identification of weld imperfections

As a Welding Inspector, you will play an important part in ensuring that welded components comply with the appropriate International or Australian Standards, codes and client specifications. You may also be responsible for ensuring that documentation, procedures and welder qualifications (required to demonstrate compliance) are in place and adhered to.

This will include NDT, mechanical and visual inspection techniques, inspection procedures and acceptance criteria, identification of weld imperfections associated with pre-production, fabrication and post fabrication, and more.

Prerequisites

Please see Entry Requirements for full details.

Training Pathway 1 (TP1): Hold an IIW International Welding Practitioner, Trade in Welding or equivalent i.e. Cert III in Engineering (Fabrication).

Training Pathway 2 (TP2): Professional worker or person having relevant experience in metal working profession.

·                     To Apply via TP2 please download and return the completed form for assessment.

·                     If applying through TP2 you will be required to sit an additional examination paper WTB

Costs (including GST)

Individual Member: $2,300.00

Non Members: $2,375.00

Weld Australia has tiered pricing according to membership type, for the full PRICELIST please follow the link. Course cost includes a 10% non-refundable deposit.

Exams are not conducted as part of the course but are required to be booked separately.
